A new musician on the rise

9 04 2008

Hey friends. It has been a while but you know me, I am so good about informing everyone about new things that come out like really good music.

Over my birthday weekend–yes another, I discovered a new artist who is amazingly talented singer and songwriter. He is coming to Austin and San Antonio this week at a Borders near you.

He hails from Oxford, England and like all the great rock musicians from England before he carries a talented mantle.

If you like 80s rock like Depeche Mode, U2, Duran Duran, A-ha, Pet Shop Boys, R.E.M. and Keane–not been 80s but in that genre, then you will like this guy.

Get out there and support him for me. I promise you, you won’t regret it. His shows are free and his double disc album is $10. His album has a thought provoking political message mixed in with love ballads and life stories.

Check out his music on his websites, especially songs like, "It’s the Only Way," "Changing History," "Something in Your Eyes." Elipsus, and Elipsus Myspace and join him on Facebook: Elipsus Facebook If you are not in Texas, he will be coming to a town near year check his schedule of events: Events

Elipsus

What most people don’t know about me is that besides being a political junkie, I am a rabid music junkie. I am always looking for new independent artists. It has been a while since I found a good one. The last one I discovered was Adele and she is becoming mainstream now thanks to I-Tunes. Damn I-Tunes.

Last Sunday my friend and I Esme were lamenting that there weren’t anymore political rock bands like the Beatles after watching “Across the Universe.” Low and behold 2 days later I was contacted by an artist named Fox-Elipsus on Facebook. He was planning a tour of Borders in the Houston area and saw that I love U2 and Duran Duran and claimed that his music was similar.

Boy was he right. The young man not only gets music, he gets life. His music is very political like the Beatles and sounds a lot like Duran Duran and U2. He is originally from Oxford, England and now resides in upstate New York. I decided for my 32nd anniversary–code for birthday– that all my friends and I are going to go to his free concert at Borders-Galleria on Sunday and then go to my home for a party to commensurate the day I was born 32 years ago.

I will definitely take lots of pictures but I admonish my readers to heck this young man out. He is amazing and definitely go to one of his concerts if he comes to your town.

Buon Weekend
